Fran Fine, Please Be Mine!

Fran Fine. She is MOTHER.

This woman lives rent-free in my head day and night. I want to be her.

I watch The Nanny at least twice from beginning to end every year. It’s so nostalgic to me. I remember waking up so early for school just to catch a rerun of their episodes. Fran Drescher truly embodied Ms. Fine.

She had the cutest outfits, and her hair was everything! Let me just say, the relationship between her and Mr. Sheffield is the only slow burn I will allow myself to indulge in. It was, what, five years before they finally realized they were meant for each other?! Patience I would never have!!

A moment for the absolute banger outfits.

Thank you, Brenda Cooper!

In a world of nonchalance, I strive to be Ms Fine.

This is one show I desperately want to own on physical media. The Nanny was more than just a sitcom to me. In a sense, it introduced me to topics I never really got to talk about with my mom. Fran was like a distant aunt. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve started to understand some of the topics on a more adult level, and I find myself feeling even more for certain episodes. There are some I relate to, and others I hope I never have to relate to. As a little girl, I can recall countless times when I felt like I was “too much.” But Fran taught me that a loud laugh, crazy clothes, and a big personality could be just as charming as anything else. For the longest time, I would hide parts of myself whenever I met new people. Now, I work hard to be unapologetically myself.

Not everybody loved Fran either. Notably, C.C. was not exactly a huge fan of hers. (This women caught strays every damn episode) But honestly, that just reminded me that I’m not going to be everyone’s cup of tea and that’s okay. I can still be cordial with people without needing everyone to like me. (I'm a people pleaser so this is tough)

Let me be honest - Fran Fine is everything I want to be: loud, glamorous, unapologetic, loving, and completely herself.
